- Quick and easy to applied, invisible, hard-wearing, penetrating, positive-side, non-toxic, waterproofer for concrete, brick, or masonry which causes liquids to bead-up for easy clean-up and removal.
- Long life, as witnessed at the Fanny Bay Oyster Plant, where a new concrete floor treated with Virobond 505 & Virobond 515 is subjected to salt water cleaning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with constant forklift and pallet-jack traffic. After 5 years the floor still did not need a re-application of Virobond 515 but they decided they would re-apply Virobond 515 ever 5 years as part of their regular maintenance program. No home owner will ever have their concrete subjected to such extreme wear conditions.
Virobond 515 (Penetrating Top Layer Seal)
Virobond 515 “Penetrating Top Layer Seal” is an industrial grade, water-based. Earth-friendly, non-toxic, hard wearing treatment used as a penetrating surface sealer for concrete, mortar, exposed aggregate, brick or pavers, or as a finishing, “bead-up” surface sealer on concrete already treated with Virobond 505.
For Virobond 515 to be effective it must be able to penetrate into the surface being treated. To do so, the surface must be appropriately clean and permeable. Application is to saturation by low pressure spray or by working the Virobond 515 into the surface with a mop or broom in cases of a very dense, power-towelled, high surface tension floors. Depth of penetration and treatment is determined by the density of the substrate, but 1.0mm to 3.0mm is the usual depth achieved.
Virobond 515 will cure in 3 to 7 days, but can be walked on as soon as in dries. Apply only one heavy coat. Never apply a second coat over a cured first coat as a “whiting” will occur between the coats. You cannot paint over Virobond 515. When cured, Virobond 515 will provide a durable, waterproof surface which all liquids will “bead-up” for easy clearing or removal. Virobond 515 is a durable wear surface as applied, but under extreme abrasion may need to be re-applied every 5 to 8 years or so, as wear dictates. Virobond 515 can be applied as a standalone waterproofer on concrete, or applied over concrete treated with Virobond 505 (once the Virobond 505 cures). Applied as a secondary coating, Virobond 515 will produce an invisible, bead-up surface.
Note: You cannot however, apply any secondary coatings over a Virobond 515 treated concrete. They will simply bead-up on the Virobond 515 treated surface.
Virobond 515 (Penetrating Top Layer Seal) is a non-toxic, non-flammable, water-based, penetrating surface sealer that completely seals, water-proofs and protects most alkaline and non-alkaline, porous and non-porous concrete and masonry substrates. Virobond 515 (Penetrating Top Layer Seal) is an effective sealer for concrete, brick stone and other masonry surfaces above, below or on grade.
